Pricing is correct as of 6 March 2022.
Over the past few years, the gloves have come off when I look at the Irish market. The GOMO network really kicked things off with their approach to plans. Three’s 48 followed by Clear Mobile to take the two on. If you are in the market for a new plan, which network should you use? I will show you the best value on the market today, and then I will show you why these plans can save you money.

How We Calculate SIM-only Value
It’s fairly easy to calculate the value of a plan. I am looking at the price over a year. I can also cater for introductory offers. What you get for your money will be included. You will have both the price and what you get for it. I think it’s the best way to go because value is very subjective.
All of the cheapest operators offer unlimited calls and texts. You won’t need to worry about it because it’s so generous.
48 – Ireland’s Cheapest SIM-only Plan
Activation Fee: No
12-month price: €131.88
Three has a child network. The brand was targeting people between the ages of 18 to 22. It was never enforced. The youth market is still being targeted by 48, as well as being Three’s value network to take on Clear Mobile.
48 is the cheapest plan on the market today with a big plan of 1099. All calls and texts are included at this price. This is out of the 100GB.
A free trial of their network is another nice thing. You can get a free sim if you order it online. 48 has the ability to save, share or donate excess data that you don’t use, which means you can even donate 50c per 1gigabyte you don’t use to charity.
This could be your last chance to get this plan because the 48 website says this offer ends April 4th.
This is for people who have a phone but don’t need a sim. Value seekers like to try before buying.
Clear Mobile has a monthly price of 12 and a yearly price of 155.88. This title now rests with Clear Mobile, as I compared GOMO to Ryanair earlier. Their website says thatcherry is not included. Clear Mobile is less expensive than both GOMO and 48. Clear Mobile is unable to use the word “unlimited” by offering genuinely unlimited quantities of data download. The Irish market traditionally does it, but the data is limited, so it will only be a matter of time before they learn about it. Clear Mobile limited your internet speed to 5 megabits per second. It will be too slow for some people, but don’t let that stop you from multitasking. Clear Mobile arriving at the speed limit is not an accident, as the minimum speed required for HD content is 5Mbps. If I ever have to tether my phone for work, I wouldn’t want to be living so close to minimum requirements. Clear Mobile does not charge a connection fee, but it does give you your first month free. Patient people who watch over 40 hours of HD videos per month without internet.
Monthly Price: €5 for five months then €25
Activation Fee: No
12-month price: €200
Virgin Media is a tricky customer. Their prices can go up or down on a monthly basis. After changing their offering, Virgin Media fell down the list.
You can get a Virgin Media plan for 5 per month if you are an existing customer. This includes calls, texts and data. Virgin Media’s unlimited means unlimited these days.
You will only be able to get 4G on Virgin Media, but it is a great option. The big thing is coming. Your monthly plan will go up to 25 per month after 5 months. The first year with Virgin Media Mobile is 200 and the second is 300.
If you’re looking to consolidate bills, this is for you.
Monthly Price: €14.99
Activation Fee: €14.99
12-month price: €194.87
The price war between the three major sub-brands of Eir, Three and Vodafone was started by GOMO. The cheapest plan in Ireland was previously held by GOMO. The 14.99 monthly fee is added to the first year of the plan. The fee is annoying. The connection fee always matches the monthly fee so it is just another way for GOMO to make some money.
GOMO has one advantage over both Clear Mobile and 48 as they offer 20GB more data per month than 48 and 4G speeds.
You can use your full allowance of calls and texts while roaming in the EU with 10 gigabytes of data per month. Your 120GB is taken out of that 10GB.
Someone who knows they need 120GB of data and someone who tried 48’s free sim and didn’t like it.
Ireland SIM-only Plan Comparison
There are more than one network. Ireland has a number of operators on the market. Regardless of who you pick, you will still be able to connect to either of the three networks. Ireland has two mobile networks and a base operator.
A 12-month base network offer with data speeds of up to 100Mbps is available.
Why Choose SIM-only?
There are many reasons why people buy a plan. Most of the time, it is because you have been given a phone from someone else or bought an unlocked phone from an Apple store. Before committing to a contract, you need to do the math. Irish networks will sometimes give you a phone without charging you upfront. Buying a phone from Apple is often cheaper than buying it on its own.
